This is a botanical watercolor of a purple thistle directly painted from life.
All materials directly attached to the painting are acid-free. The painting dimensions are 6.75" x 7". The mat is 11" x 14" and sand colored. The frame is white painted wood with outside dimensions of 13" x 16" with plexiglass glazing.
As a practice, Allison uses cruelty-free vegan art materials e.g. brushes, paints, glue, and cotton paper sizing.
Each painting is initialed on the front. The back of the watercolor includes the artists full signature and printed name. The artists business card is taped to the back of the protective foam-core mounting board.
Allison's formal art training took place at California State University, Sacramento and two local community colleges. She later improved her training with private instruction from several National watercolor masters. This intensive instruction helped her to develop her own artistic representation which she describes as California Regional Style meets Dreamlike Expressionism. Allison is an avid hiker and plein air artist. She is a member of the California Watercolor Association and Verge Center for the Arts in Sacramento.
